When I first saw this bird I thought it was a purple martin the way it was soaring and swooping thru the air, then when I found it in the tree where it landed it I was surprised to see a bird that seemed to have hawk-like feature, but tiny. When I got home and looked at the photos I realized it was actually turned out to be a falcon, an adult male merlin. My first photos of one, will now have to go back and get better ones.
